one way ticket to detroit
« on: March 31, 2011, 11:54:16 AM »
I'm looking to plan for a group of people to travel from NY to Detroit for same day return travel, same day tickets for that day is about $1100 RT, my question was if I can have a large group fly fly from LGA-DTW-FNT & they should all get off in DTW and not continue to FNT, a one way ticket like this is $125 & then I can take spirit one way back for another $110.

My question was if there are alot of people getting off in DTW and not using the 2nd leg, can they make any sort of problem long term or shert term???

Another option is two RT's with a Saturday night stay. Probably not as cheap hidden city, though.

So basically you are asking a general hidden city ticket question (which has its own thread).
Generally speaking there are 4 rules with such tickets. You cannot check in any luggae. You should not use the same airline for both directions. You should not give a FF number. You should not do it too often on the same airline.
Obviously this situation may be worse, and may even qualify as a C"H as I'm sure they won't be thrilled when a large party is a no-show.

Maybe the experts could confirm, but if you can get a hold of LAN miles (kilometers actually) I think this might be a good redemption value (though I don't know how many award seats you'd be able to book on the same flight).

A RT DTW-NYC flight is 18K LAN (approx 7,200 SPG)

Isn't the OP looking for NYC-DTW, or is that the same difference?

Nyc-dtw became a very expensive route once delta took over from nwa. I know alot of people who fly hidden city in and out of dtw and no one ever had a problem except when there was bad weather and wanted to route the people through atl but if you book nyc-fnt you should be ok because i dont think delta operates atl-fnt. I cant tell you if it will be a problem if a large group does it together, maybe split the group on a few different flights into dtw.

You could also fly Spirit RT.

the problem with spirit is that they arrive to DTW at 11:50 and we have to be there no later then 9:00-10:00
