The cheshbon is that you upgrade, get the points, buy the AA GC's do the Platinum Guy's Great Mehalech, then downgrade back or close and get the Annual Fee of the Plat reimbursed. If cancelled within 60 days you get it all back; if more than 60 days it is prorated.

At statement closing after downgrading the plat (within 60 days) I got prorated amount back. I called and asked manager why not the full amount, they said that you only receive the full amount back if did not use the card... Anyone heard of this? I had received full refund on the consumer card after canceling...

Annual Membership Fee - $0 for the first year, then $450

Did it say this for everyone?

How long have you had the Platinum card? Within 60 days should be able to refund and after is pro-rated.

I started off with gold and upgraded to platinum. I got the 25k points and then downgraded.

Now i got an email with my name and account number asking me if i wanted to upgrade to platinum for 25k points. I did so and made a purchase but no points posted. I called and they told me i can only get the bonus once. :( (I have the targeted email).

Any advice?

I got it also but I got charged. I called them and they put a review in but did not refund me right away.

So now that I upgraded to Platinum and got hit with a 415 Fee I asked to downgrade and then was told that I would be responsible for the 175 fee of the gold card.  Why am I the only one not having luck getting this off?

After a year the $175 hits.. just transfer out the points (hopefully with a 50% BA bonus if were lucky) & close the acct.
