The cheshbon is that you upgrade, get the points, buy the AA GC's do the Platinum Guy's Great Mehalech, then downgrade back or close and get the Annual Fee of the Plat reimbursed. If cancelled within 60 days you get it all back; if more than 60 days it is prorated.

today: i called and was told there was offer for 50k after 10k spend for upgrading BRG to Plat.
if i keep calling, will they have diff offers?

Called today asking for upgrade offer from Business Gold to Platinum and was immediately offered to upgrade with 50K MR for 10K in 5 months.
Did it on 2 different accounts.
