The cheshbon is that you upgrade, get the points, buy the AA GC's do the Platinum Guy's Great Mehalech, then downgrade back or close and get the Annual Fee of the Plat reimbursed. If cancelled within 60 days you get it all back; if more than 60 days it is prorated.

Isn't the AF huge on the Platinum?  So you guys just meet the spend, make sure to get the $200 credit and then downgrade back to Gold all within 60 days and AMEX will let you keep the points and not give you a hard time?

Get gold for 75k and platinum for 150k, upgrade gold to platinum, get $400 on each and hopefully 25k for upgrading, and close both within 60 (or downgrade to green and try that). You walk away with 225k-250k MR and $800. As i said, count me in.
