And apparently its going to become more restrictive.
If youre thinking about enrolling in the challenge do it now.

I would like to inform members that as of November 1, there will be some changes to the policy with regards to the status match challenge.

Do forgive me for not being able to provide more info at this point of time, but if you are still procastinating about participating in the status match challenge, don't!

Not that bad... Could be worse (though the three additional stays requirement isn't fun).

Does that mean you could technically stretch it to almost 4 months?

I'm guessing it means no matter when you being the challenge, it will begin from the 1st of that month.
So unless you begin on the 1st it'll be less then 90 days.

JUST SIGNED UP FOR SPG PLATINUM CHALLENGE, HOW TO REACH IT?
« Reply #26 on: November 08, 2011, 01:36:28 PM »
I just signed up for the SPG Plat challenge. any creative ideas on how to reach it? need 18 nights over the next 3 months.

If someone is going to buy points for a stay, I would let them book under my name, and give a heavy heavy discount on price.

Thanks.

Just got off the phone with a CSR.

SPG Fiscal year ends at the end on February. I asked her straight-up if its better to get my match after that date and she said yes. @Chaikel, your match came after, and being that they always give at least 1 year, they extended you to the next fiscal end (2013). @Dan, yours was before that date(your post was mid-Feb). That being the case, all matches and challenges should be done in month of March, and they will give you the Plat status for approx 23 months.

As for the Challenge, I just started mine today. It will be dated 01/01 and run through the end of March. If I end up short a few stays, I will start a new challenge and use my previous two months and end it end of April.

Is there any way to confirm how long my status will last? I matched mine in March but my card says it expires 2/29/2012

You are right. Let me rephrase my question.
If my card says expires 2/29/2012 is that the norm and they reissue cards every year even to those who qualify for longer or is that a concern?

So is there absolutely no matching now or is it only Platinum that requires the challenge (ie can we still do Hilton gold to SPG gold)?

According to the SPG rep it would have to yourself staying there...but I dont see why it should make a difference!!

the road to spg platinum...
« Reply #38 on: April 14, 2012, 11:38:52 PM »
Hi everyone,

I am seeking advice on how to possibly shortcut my way from spg gold to spg platinum. spg offered me a spg platinum challenge where I can reach spg platinum  if I have 18 paid nights during any three consecutive calendar months. Aside from this, does any one have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Do you have to match platinum status from somewhere else to qualify for the platinum challenge?  Or can I request a platinum challenge even if I don't have platinum status anywhere else? I'm expecting a bunch of hotel stays in the next couple months and would likely meet the 18 day requirement.
