I know quite a few people who were lax about davening with a minyan, who got to appreciate it while serving time at the Omud and kept on going.
I heard a line once, תפילות, אבות תקנום.

Many Chabad house minyanim started because the shliach or a community member had to say kaddish.
I don't sin, I give myself opportunities to repent.

I personally started answering אמן etc. louder, as I got an appreciation of what it means to be at the Omud and feel like you're davening in a בית החיים where you can hear no feedback.

True feel the same on that.

Or 10 minutes after any fasts end...
However unlike most other shuls you can actually get a minyan together in 770 even late after a fast.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

A pet-peeve of mine when you have been in Shul for a while pulling together your Minyan, and another Chiyuv who comes later, starts pulling theirs at the same time. If they get 5 first, they start, pulling the 4 that you already had, and you gotta start all over again.

Aka another chiyuv who isn't a mensch. There are many ways that comes out.

The following post and on was split off to a new topic, please continue the discussion there
One thing I did when I was an avel (and am trying to continue) is leave my cellphone at home or in my car.  I found that I davened better.  - even if the cellphone is totally turned off if it was in my pocket it was a distraction.  I figured if I am going to daven for the amud for 11 months, let me at least try to daven like a mentsh.

Going through my second round now. So far I'm OK with voice and pace (I think). Eyesight isn't what it was 21 years ago... need to pick right siddur size, height, right pair of glasses to use, etc. Also, I find that I wake up in the morning (or have trouble sleeping) fearing that I might miss the minyan I have reserved.
