Credit Card Income
« on: August 16, 2016, 11:06:58 AM »
I'm sure this has been asked before:
However, when I apply for a credit card does the credit card company look at all the credit lines I have and if I have too much credit lines that don't match my income, they wont open it for me.
Example : If I write my Income as 80,000 and I have two credit card with American Express with a credit limit of 10,000 and 12,000.
Then I open file a credit card application with Chase, will my American Express credit lines get in the way.

What about if  I got married and Im not physically living at my home address anymore but my legal address is still my parents address. When applying for a new credit card can I still use there income since you can report household income?

IMO; If ur on a Shana rishona honeymoon then u still live at your parents household and can consider that address as household income. If you're not on Shana rishona..  PAYOR

Going to get jumped on for this but IMHO, NO!

FIGHT!!
Wouldn't be fair.  ;)

I have total CL's greater than my income and have no problem getting Chase CC's. I don't see 22k of CL's with 80k income getting in the way of getting a Chase CC.

might apply for someone with minimal history but with established pattern of paying on time i imagine it wouldnt be a problem.

Even with minimal history (<2 years), I have about 80% of my stated income in available credit.

Banks have a easier time giving you a high limit if you already have other bank's cards with a high limit. So  l consolidated all my smaller limit cards from bank A, and bank B matched that when I opened a card with them.

Some banks will match your highest CL. I bet AJK knows one that will.  :)

Need to be 21 to use household income, correct? And until when can you use it? If you're still living there when you're sixty you can claim your parent income as household income?

So if married but technically I still rely on parents income ( or in laws) I can count their income?
Any online source, that says this?

If u live in their house, then 2hile the answer is yes, perhaps you should have larger concerns than credit cards...
Also, if you file separate taxes it might be an issue.
