To break it down further, it's worth it to trade in only if you're willing to stay with T-Mobile for at least 11-12 months. The reason being- the phone you will be trading can be purchased for $300 (example), and if you switch carriers after 11 months you'll be responsible for $350, for a total of $650 paid to upgrade to the 7. Every additional month you stay afterwards is an extra $27 off your bill that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. So the approximate value of staying with T-Mobile for the full 24 months is approximately $350.
Ah that makes sense they'll pay you $300 for your old iphone

Does it say anywhere that the phone needs to be in working condition? I have a water damaged iPhone 6 (won't turn on) available to trade.

You're suggesting it's a coincidence?

Then why use a proprietary standard on their airpods? and why charge $9 for a lightning-to-headphone-jack adapter? and $49 for a stupid "dock" so you can charge and listen at the same time?

Yes it's a coincidence that Apple has been releasing wireless headphones under their Beats brand for many years.
Honestly I think Apple was trying to shift some of the negative attention of the inconvenience of using wired headphones so they released their own version of wireless to deflect that.

Explain what is proprietary about the airpods? Bluetooth is proprietary standard that no one can use? Also airpods work with all bluetooth devices. I think you read up the anti-Apple comments on some site and haven't got the chance to analyze it rationally.

$9 for an adapter - that comes included for free. (Anti-apple commenters ignore that little fact.)
And it will be available from 3rd parties for cheaper.

As to the charging-while-listening complaints, that's the biggest and IMHO only serious issue with removing the jack.
But I can guarantee that cheaper options than the $49 dock will pop up for $10 or less within the next month or so.

That isn't correct.
They will pay you the equivalent of $650 for your old iPhone that's worth $300 if you stay on contract for 2 years.

Apple releases beats? It's run as a separate company AFAIK.

If you're right about that i stand correctly.

Only the first one is free, and Apple doesn't make any $$ off the after-market ones.

Now you're agreeing with me :D

At the end of the day, it belongs to them. They can control the vision and can make them very compatible with Apple products if they decided to. At the end of the day, all wireless headphones should see a boost in sales.

Re: the port, yep, I try to believe that I am being honest here...
Re: the airbuds, not exactly, I don't believe the port was blocked to sell airbuds, and I doubt they sell will faster (than if they released it a year ago) because they announced it together. Airbuds look stupid, and are very easy to lose. It's not a major product.
