Recent experience.  The cash price on Chase was the same. And I got it for pts at a 1.5 cent value.
Points
Tnx and Tnx! Good to know what to expect.

Combining this with the Freedom unlimited is a nice way to get 2.25 but cashing out would be a pain. The ability to transfer to partners though, makes that combo a no brainer IMHO. Even for those that like cash back.

I sort of split my spending between CB and reward cards. Now I think typical spending will be done on the Freedom unlimited unless I need a warranty (Amex) or it's something in a bonus category with another card.

Would a refundable night work towards the $300 credit ?

Of course it will work
I posted this in the main CSR thread but I figured it was worth mentioning here as an alert.

It appears that EZ-Pass (at least the NY one) no longer codes their charges as travel. I had a charge on the 10/29 that posted on 10/31 that didn't get a credit and only got 1 point per dollar. I just called Chase and they said the EZ-pass charge was coded as government services - other and not travel. The rep I spoke with also indicated that he thought it used to count as travel but it could possibly be a recent change.

Did anyone have a very recent EZ-pass charge that counted as travel? If so what state EZ-Pass did you use?

My charge was from 10/29 and posted on 10/31 and is from the NY EZ-pass though the charge just says the following:
   EZPASS PREPAID TOLL      $55.00
 Print   800-333-8655, NY 103140000 US
Online, Mail, or Telephone transaction
Rewards earned1
+ 1 Point per $1 on all other purchases   55.00
Total rewards   55.00      Points

Interesting. The change must have occurred between then and 10/29. There was another report on the FlyerTalk CSR thread as well so I don't think it was an error in my case.

This is a really big deal if I'm correct and EZ-Pass NY is no longer travel credit eligible. There are many people for whom the only use of the credit is EZ-Pass, especially in short time windows when there isn't much time left in the year. I think I actually have to change my statement date to later in the month to I have more time in December to get the credit for 2016 as my current statement date is the 2nd.

If you book a flight or travel through the UR portal do yet get award points if it is with AA flight or if you booked a hotel like Hyatt or a SPG brand.

According to chase the merchant chooses the coding and when I called ezpass they said they have no affiliation with government they are privately owned. Anything we can do?
