A cousin of mine booked airfare with CSR points. He's about to take his return flight and he sees that they booked his wife to leave on 2/15 and him on 3/15. What can he do? Doesn't want to waste time calling chase now will they pay him back  for the change fees?

If you are able to use the $300.00 travel for the 2nd year it might be worth while to wait.
Wondering this that works out.. you pay $450 to be able to get $300 credit?
If you are trying to get my attention/assistance and I'm not responding, please feel free to PM me. :)

You can use your (2016) 2017 and 2018 credit, while only paying the AF for 2017. Close/downgrade the card before 2018 AF comes due

Don't understand. Seems like the most he can get for that $450 AF is an extra $300 acc to my calculations..

Yes so that's not worth it to pay $450 for $300 credit..

Read up thread to the posts around December. It's $600 or possibly even $900 depending when you opened the card for one AF

Its $600 travel credit (2017 & 2018) for a $450 fee. $900 if you got it in December before statement closed.

The original question was if he could close it within the month and not pay the fee.
Presumably he used the 2017 credit and he is not getting 3 credits in the first year as it's February.

Therefore keeping it open will cost him $150 ($450-$300).

Then why not wait & use 2018 credit & then close ?

Maybe it's not worth $150 to him.

(I am not advising him to close it and I don't know if it will work. I am just explaining the question. )

Not if he can close it without paying the first annual fee.

Yup, some believe it is better to pay an extra $150.  :P
"LESS IS MORE" It is the cumulative effect that kills deals!!! How many times do I have to say this?  >:(

I wouldn't start up with people's beliefs here. Not at this time of the night.

Anyone else have an issue with Ultimate Rewards points not being worth 1.5 cents when redeemed through their website as they advertise?

Care to elaborate on what led up to this question? Often the answer is in the question.

When I signed up for the Reserve, it advertised my 100,000 points to be worth $1500 travel when booked through the ultimate rewards website. (obviously the points can have much more value when transfered to partners but that is not what I am discussing)

However, when actually using the Ultimate Rewards website, particularly for hotels in my experience, the prices they list are often extremely inflated compared to other websites and directly with the hotel so instead of points being worth 1.5 cents each, in practice they are often more like 1 cent per point. In fact, when I pointed this out to the representative from the Chase travel center when asking for a match to the price listed or a credit in points to offset the difference, she suggested I cash out the points at 1 cent each and pay the lower amount by booking directly from the hotel.

This seems like false advertising but I have not heard to many other people having this issue.

I have found chase hotel prices to actually be cheaper frequently when you factor in tax.
