So people send back used items and say they are new. Now what? its costs time and money to process those, it costs time and money to ship them back to customers, it costs time and money to argue with customers that the items were used when they claim that they are new.

What part of this doesnt hurt the bottom line?

An option is to take pictures of why she feels it was used and then charge the customer for return shipping. Time is certainly an issue.

Don't ship it back until you charge them. Have that clearly in the terms. I have seen that. It is not a perfect answer.

I'm not sure what you're trying to point out.  The initial return policy allowed 14 days.  That probably got abused.  So she shortened it to 7.  Still had issues.  Not sure why you have such a problem with her making a business decision based on her experience.

The return must be sent back within  14 days of receipt. After 14 days, returns received will not be accepted. We suggest obtaining a proof of purchase, as we are not responsible for any returns that are lost or damaged in delivery.

You're a smart man, you see exactly what was posted in the link. Though it was mostly a response to:

Almost.  First all returns,  then no Brooklyn,  then no used returns.

She never offered refunds for used or late returns. Pretty darn hard to abuse that stringent policy.
She later added no cash refunds for 3 areas, and later 2 more areas.
I have no problems with making a business decision, but she didn't have to turn it into a smear campaign is all I'm saying.

Finally the owner comes out and tells the facts.
Paints a much different picture than originally insinuated in all the other articles.
And as I mentioned many times, depleted inventory seems to be her #1 issue.

but honestly I never would have heard about the store if not for the ridiculous return policy.

I dont see why anyone would buy clothing online if they do not get to try it on and might not like it and would like to return it.

Again its her business that she is ruining so its not my problem.

All she had to do is offer to everyone a 7 day return policy and the clothing must be returned in new condition

This must have been a disaster for them. Here they are only trying to protect themselves (albeit going overboard) and they end up with all of this bad PR and a run-in with the NJAG office. Not fun.
