Was just going to post about this. However, a possibly more interesting development is Alaska's new award chart:

award flights start at 5k for flights under 700 miles within the continental US and Canada. Is AS the new BA?

How do you figure?
1. BA transfers from all four major transferable programs (MR, SPG, TYP and UR), AS only transfers from SPG, and that's a headache as well.
2. Alaska has very limited domestic routes.
3. Alaska miles are much more valuable than BA.

AS wont book me DL over phone after April 30th even though you can online till EOS. CSR said they were instructed not to.

Sorry, didn't realize these prices were only for AS metal. If it applied to American too, that would be pretty great.

Virgin America does transfer TYP and MR, and you can transfer from Virgin America into Alaska at a 1:1.3 ratio, so that seems pretty good as far as transfers.
