Aha. Interesting... They do unlock it for you after 2 months of their service. So perhaps it was a phone that someone bought and put service on, but never used and returned... Resulting in you getting an unlocked phone...

Did you put in a SIM card of another carrier? It works?

That cant be because these phones don't unlock automatically, they require you to request the code and manually unlock it. That means someone went through the hassle of unlocking it. Also not tracfones type to resell a used phone as new...

That’s normal for it to drop service in the us IME. That’s part of what the fig f30 accomplished, to install proper US antenna/bands.

Confirming that it works with another carrier. Actually I have two phones, I only discovered this after getting the unlock codes for the first phone, only to see that it was unlocked.

So basically I have 2 phones purchased from Tracfone that came already unlocked.

Activate with the $10 plan and after 60 days unlock it on via the unlocking website. (The phone does not need to be active for the full 60 days, it just needs to have passed 60 days from activation.)

A little bit more complicated would be to sign up for autopay on the $15 plan. Sign up each phone with its own rewards account and refer every line to each other. Make sure to keep the line active for 2 months so the points post. You will net thousands of TracFone points that you can use to buy more phones. (You get the equivalent of at least $50 for every phone you refer.)

Can you explain how it works with the device discount? If I redeem 6000 points on: "Phone Promo Code" $50 off, what is the minimum purchase I can use the code on? Does the code expire? Is there any exceptions to what the code can be used on? If I purchase a phone that requires a plan purchase in advance, will the code work towards that?

Second of all, if there is so much talk here on ddf, it must be from a laptop or some computer right? No one here has a smart phone to be posting from…right? Right? Everyone is on their laptops all the time? I work from my laptop so I’m just as much to blame, but I usually post on ddf from my phone..

I see someone beat me to it. But ppl have 2 phones. You don't always 'need' to have your smart phone on you. (Unless you do). Also, I know 2 people (and I'm sure there are many more) who are extremely 'well to do' businessmen, both of them have only flip phones. So you can be in front of your computer the whole day, and then when you go to a wedding or the like, you're not locked up in your 'cell' .

Believe it or not some people here have other family members who may use a flip phone even if they themselves need to have a smartphone.

You can purchase new one, and then return the old one once you have the new one.
