REVIVE THE FLIP PHONE
« Reply #300 on: August 22, 2019, 11:12:57 PM »
Did U.S. Mobile just change all their plans?
Yup going up to $20 plus tax
For $10 you get 1000 minutes

I think now the cheapest on Verizon will be red pocket mobile annual plan bought on ebay or amazon . Totals around $18 a month

do any of these include canada?
Tello and ultra Mobile include calls to Canada. But not roaming in Canada.
Ultra you can add extra money to be able to roam . Iirc itís .25 per minute

Looks like it. Does it change for existing customers, or are they grandfathered?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Here's the answer:

Quote
First of all, thank you for being a part of the US Mobile family. Weíre writing to let you know that the cost of the unlimited talk and text plan will be increasing by $10/month. This will apply to all monthly plans beginning August 22, 2019.

96% of our customers use less than 1,000 minutes of talk per month. Your bill can remain the same if you switch to our new "1,000 minutes and unlimited text" plan. So take a look at our plans to decide what you need before your next cycle.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I'm getting exactly that from redpocket for $19.
How does pixwireless customer service compare to redpocket?

Can it be kosherized?
I can't imagine we will know until after it is released unless Nokia is working with the tech organizations. It would be a smart thing to do since that is probably a large portion of the flip phone market.

It uses KaiOS, which is Android-based-but-extremely-slimmed-down-and-closed. And at the moment there is no way to kosherize any KaiOS AFAIK.
