Thanx, so it's basically I get my own phone and download the freedom pop app ?
You only need the app for calling which is VOIP (but does not count against your data), data would work without their app

Any recommendation for a inexpensive large screen phone compatible with Freedompop only for Waze? In 08701 I'm guessing Sprint has better service than ATT?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

What do you call inexpensive?

I think most people consider AT&T to be better in 08701.

If I only need for Waze it's not so much about what I can afford–it's about what would be needed for Waze and at least a 5 inch screen. There is no upside with a better phone. I would buy used.

Does Freedompop word in Canada?

Do you any data besides Waze? Can you confirm how much data Waze uses?
I do a few hours a day with waze, it uses about 250-270MB a month

-1 sprint service in 08701, is underrated and is very decent.

I'm late to the party, but didnt notice this thread. The ringplus deals do come up fairly often so this will still be useful if you can wait around. The bbq brisket plan is a mad plan, so it uses Sprint voice rather than the secondary network that the free plan s have. No ads on calls, and none of the latency/unreliability issues of the backup network. The data is weaker than the BLT plan offers. So if you're after voice, its the bbq plan, if you're primarily interested in data, the blt will give you better speed.

The surfing reuben seems to combine the worst of both options. Backup network for voice, plus throttling and "research". The cost is all upfront, and I don't like that either. But its a very good option nonetheless if it comes around when you need it and there isnt something better.
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.

It's possible, but everyone's experience is different based on their specific usage patterns.

doesn't underrated mean most people don't feel that way? Either way, my experience is that the device makes as much of a difference as the provider in in areas like Lakewood where coverage is inconsistent and spotty.

What i meant, is people are always talking about how sprint sucks in lakewood (i think its ppl who dont have it supposedly because it sucks) but my own first hand experience is very good (and getting better) i almost always have 4G coverage and placing a call i used to have issues (but rately) in some basements of crackling, but never a dropped call,  but recently have not at all.
And i deff agree with device makong a difference my s3 usually got mostly 3G very "spotty" 4G but my s5 %97 i get 4G

So how do I go about using them for data, do I have to buy a device from them ? What  If I have my own device ?

If you choose the sim card you just put it in any unlocked gsm phone. If you choose CDMA (Sprint), you can buy a phone from them or bring your own, check on their website which is compatible

How does Freedompop compare to ringplus?
