Got a front loader? You might be eligible for cash!!!
« on: September 14, 2016, 01:23:34 AM »
I got in the mail a letter that there is a class action Case No. 1:08-WP-65000 (MDL 2001) against whirlpool, Kenmore and maytag, and I'm eligible to receive cash back or a new machine, but I have to register until Oct 11, if not I cannot get it, i didn't read the whole thing.

It's says there that I should visit this site http://www.washersettlement.com

This is what it says,

If you purchased, acquired, or received as a gift a new Whirlpool, Kenmore, or Maytag front-loading washing machine manufactured between 2001 and 2010, you may be entitled to cash or other compensation as part of a class action settlement.

does anyone know something about this, is it a scam?

When I Google washer settlement it comes up several news site writing about this.

It's not a scam. I got a postcard in the mail for this months ago. Those front loaders were designed really badly, it was a source of mold growth in my basement for years before we dumped it. This settlement pays next to nothing for a very real issue.
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.

This is the case with all front loaders. Every single front loader that I have ever had has grown mold and stunk like hell. I went back to a top-loader and never looked back.

Tried that, didn't help. Smart consumers get a top loader.

The woman who wrote this article used to be a big advocate for front loaders. She changed her mind after getting thousands of feedback comments.

Nope. Even with leaving the door open it does not dry out. It's worse in a damp basement than in a climate controlled laundry room, but either way it's a design flaw.

In the last few years they started making front loaders on a tilt... which supposedly helps or resolves the problem. But I'm not taking a chance again.

mine is a relatively new front loader so maybe thats why its working pretty well for me. it is starting to smell a little bit but that is after using ti for more then 2 years.
