I'm sure this is a repeat, but please indulge me.
What about little kids?  If a couple both have GE, from what age do the kids need their own?  Or can little ones just go along with their parents?

GE is needed for everyone.

wow!  You're saying even babies can't just go along with their parents.
That's tough.  I'll need more GE apps.  I know where I can get some, though. ;)

Yep. They all need their own however the machine doesn't work half the time for kids so they'll just let your kids go through with you.

Is it worth just trying to go through routinely with just the parents having GE?

2/3 times it did not work for my kids properly and they just let me pass. I'd get it for them either way

as it is so easy to do anyways and lasts 5 years but obviously is your call.

Thanks for all the info.
(It's for my daughter, actually.  I have 2 GEs, and it sounds like it's worth paying for  2 more.)

I called before to try rescheduling, I said I was leaving town, and they told me I could just show up the next day. (when I got there they weren't too happy about it, but they did it and there was no wait)

the sad part is. There were like 8 people waiting and 4 workers all sitting there doing nothing.

Did they accept you as a walk in?

In LAX they have signs too, but they'll take as a walk in sometimes if you already have an appointment. But you must have an appointment - even for 5 months later.

Re: Kids. The guy who processed me for GE said in no uncertain terms that if I try doing it with my kid without getting GE for my kid, they'll revoke the GE.

UPDATE: So I went with my 2 kids as a walk-in. They open 7 AM I got there 7:05 the room was already full. I put my name down on the paper and N/A for my appointment time, the guy came to my name and asked when my appointment was for and I told him in a couple of weeks but I was traveling soon and needed it ASAP. He told me I could wait and they would take me in between appointments.

I ended up waiting an hour but they took me.

How long does it take to receive the card in the mail?

same with me, but it's only needed for land crossing from CA or MX into US, for TSApre and airport arrival you don't use the card.

Just a reminder that for TSA pre check purposes, children under 12 can accompany a parent.
So there's a difference between domestic TSA pre-check and international global entry.
Pre-check the kids come along and G entry they need their own.

TSA Pre they don't make a big deal at all if kids are with their parents that have it.

GE they all need.

Your answer was great.
My question was flawed.  And I'm glad I found the answer to my real question before I bought and used 2 extra I don't really need.
