I believe that Global Entry doesn't automatically give Nexus, but Nexus automatically gives Global entry. (3).

But if I choose nexus, I need to go down to a nexus enrollment center - and from the list it doesn't look like any of them are close by.

Correct. If you want you could just do Global Entry (they have an enrollment center at EWR) but that only helps when flying into the US.

Possibly 3 (it doesn't let you select both right?). Getting Nexus should automatically give you Global Entry.

When I applied I think it let you choose both, but since then I helped someone apply and I recall it only letting you select one.
Find out before you click.

Call a canadian one if you want, but it boils down to 3 if you want both and are willing to shlep to an enrollment center one day, or 2 if you just want GE.

Thanx MarkS and AJK. I chose option 2 . I hope i'll still be able to get nexus one day even though i'll  (hopefully iyh) already have GE.

No, if you choose Nenus you need to go to a Nexus enrollment center http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/trusted_traveler/nexus_prog/nexus_enroll.xml
and they process the Global entry too.

No. I called a Global Entry office specifically asking that and they said I need to go to the Nexus office.

To get an earlier appointments try:
A) Just walking in and convincing them to take you
B) Keep going online and click reschedule and see if anything else earlier opened up. The first avail appt will show up. Usually that will be a few months out, but if you check multiple times during the day, when someone say next week happens to cancel, all of the sudden that spot will be the next avail appointment but you have to be quick because anyone else who logs in will also see that as the first avail appt. I managed to get some family members earlier appointments by keeping that tab open in my browser and checking every once in a while. People do cancel/reschedule their appts, and if you are the next one to look for an apt you can grab it.

Schedule now (you need to within 30 days of approval) for 4 months from now.

If you are just applying today it will anyways take up to 2 months to get your conditional approval (and ability to schedule) and at that point, (for ex. November) they will prob be booked through February.

i am already conditional approved

and BTW for many centers i checked now they have availability within a week

How soon should I schedule my appointment?
You will need to schedule an appointment within 30 days of being conditionally approved. The actual appointment date can be beyond the 30-day period. For example, the scheduled appointment date can be several months from now, as long as you schedule it within 30 days of the conditional approval date. Failing to schedule the interview within 30 days from the date of conditional approval will result in being denied.

Just got my Nexus cards in the mail 6 days after the appt. They need to invest in a better camera! They have a junky webcam that they hold up at you and it's black/white!
