Global Entry is super worth it, even without a discount. Landed in PHL today, and was out of the airport within 45 minutes of touchdown because of Global Entry. Skipped the massive lines at customs. And it comes with pre-check.
I can't remember the last time it took me that long to get out without GE

45 minutes from landing, pulling up to gate, getting bags, and clearing customs? I think thats pretty fast.

If you are flying Y, it could take longer for bags, but F pax get bags right away.

They should let you to the front of the line for the ones that can't fingerprint.

For Nexus (Global Entry for entering Canada), they don't require anything from small children. They just have an officer to make sure that the picture on the card matches the kid that's coming through. Much better system IMO.

Do you know if one can use GE when crossing the border, or you need Nexus?

Which direction? Going into canada you need nexus. Coming into US you can use either one

I signed up for Nexus and Global Entry was automatically included. Not sure if you automatically get Nexus when you sign up for Global Entry though.

You don't because you need Canadian approval. Only Nexus gets it.

Regardless, I doubt it's that difficult to get approved for Nexus once you have GE.

It's not hard to get approved, just annoying to arrange the interview if you're located in NY because it has to be done at an office with both Canadian and U.S. Customs (either a major airport like YYZ, YUL, YVR) or a land crossing which is a far drive from NY area.
