It's not hard to get approved, just annoying to arrange the interview if you're located in NY because it has to be done at an office with both Canadian and U.S. Customs (either a major airport like YYZ, YUL, YVR) or a land crossing which is a far drive from NY area.

Very true. Especially because there is barely ever availability (at least in YUL), and can take months to get an appointment.

Which direction? Going into canada you need nexus. Coming into US you can use either one
Thanks.

Thanks.

I should clarify - I've been told multiple times you can use either. I've only ever used GE when flying and nexus for driving.  now that i that I think about it, I'm not sure how you would use GE if you're driving - there are special lanes for nexus but never seen GE lanes.

TBH: Filling out this application is harder than going through security.

It is harder than a bar application. I have 2 errors, and have no idea how to fix them.  It says address history "cannot contain gaps." There are no gaps. Do they mean overlaps? There are overlaps. Because there were.

It means no gaps in the months. Every month has to be accounted for.

I think they are. Unless they mean to bring it forward to present, but the instructions say don't enter current address.

For the past 5 years every month accounted for. Meaning of you moved in dec 2012, write from 1/2010-12/2012. Then 1/13-4/15.....

Does anyone know how long the process usually takes for Global Entry? I'm flying to Israel Saturday night though I don't imagine I'll be able to get it by then. I mostly plan to use it for the TSA Pre-check benefits since I usually travel domestically.

I can't see how I haven't done that, and it doesn't highlight the problems in red, and I don't want to put anything different than my law school and bar applications because it will raise flags when I'm being vetted for secretary of the treasury.

if you didn't apply yet, or didn't have your appointment yet, then no chance you'll have it.
If you had your appointment already, then you can use it even without the actual card.
Always use an Amex, you'll thank me one day.

You must not have all the info put in correctly. It took me awhile also to figure out what I was missing but if you do exactly what it tells you to, the application will go thru.

AU gets reimbursed but I doubt that at that at your kids' age you can get a card

My wife and I have nexus. We signed our kids up for free. They do get their own card (and they do in fact need their own card to use Global Entry/Nexus lanes/kiosks) but they could not be finger-printed at their age, so at the airport, we go to the kiosk, then jump the line to the first-available agent.

Maybe I have overlap (e.g. 03/2011-02/2012;  02/2012-08/2014). But that makes sense because I moved during the month. And that's how I filled out the bar apps. And the system says there are gaps--not overlaps.

Do you want to win the argument with GOES or do you want your application to be submitted?

Try going back 5 years to 2010.
