They usually send the biz plats expedited.

But if approved today, you probably wont have it until Friday.
I am leaving Friday morning to NJ!

Just got my application for Global Entry approved, and they sent an email to set up an appointment. If I happen to be near the register center prior to that day, is it possible to walk in and see if they would help me without an appointment? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Be careful with this. I scheduled a 115 appt for dw and flight landed a bit late. She got there at 145 and they said she has to wait for people with appts - even people who weren't there when she showed up. After an hour of waiting and no guarantees of them taking her next she left without completing the process

Can someone confirm that you don't have to go through body scanners with GE? I read that you only go through metal detectors, but am unsure if true. Anyone know JFK/EWR?
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

You can always opt out of body scanners and request a hand search. TSA pre may not have body scanners, I didn't pay attention, but my recent EWR flight in A, I got "Pre" and there was no scanner, not sure if A doesn't have a scanner or its "Pre" that had this privilege.

I meant without patdown either. Someone I know can't fly because of these issues, and didn't know there was any option around it. I told them I'd find out.

tsa pre (where its available) has regular metal detectors
it also helps to fly with kids quite a few times when i flew with kids and didn't have tsa pre i was the only one who they put through the metal detector instead of the body scanner

Just received this email
Quote
You are receiving this message because you have been identified by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as a U.S. citizen enrolled in the Global Entry program.  CBP would like to inform you that the United Kingdom now operates an expedited entry program called Registered Traveller.  Registered Traveller is a new service launched by the UK Border Force to give faster and more convenient entry to the UK for nationals from the United States.  You are eligible to apply for membership in the UK Registered Traveller service.  Membership in Registered Traveller costs £70.  Complete details of Registered Traveller eligibility and availability can be found online at http://www.gov.uk/registered-traveller

Membership in Registered Traveller include the following benefits:
·         Access to ePassport gates at airports across the country

·         Use of the UK / European Union queue at airports across the country

·         A dedicated Registered Traveller lane at Gatwick Airport

·         Not needing to complete a landing card on arrival to the UK

·         No credibility interview with a Border Force officer.

Registered Traveller is already proving popular with members, who have provided praises such as, “This is an excellent service, it is efficient, extremely well run and very effective. I would highly recommend this service,” and “Well done Britain. Fast, secure, easy.  Great service and timesaver, and remarkably easy to set up. Thanks to all the people who made this possible.”

You can apply for Registered Traveller online now at http://www.gov.uk/registered-traveller

ANY chance Ge credit works for this?

How useful is global entry besides for tsa pre check? Is it ridiculous to just get the precheck?

For the extra (free) $15 why wouldn't you? It's very useful if you ever travel internationally.

Approval/interview process is the same.

It's not even an extra $15, they're both free for me. I just see that tsa has walk ins, and i don't see such an option for global entry. Is there a way i can do global entry today or tomorrow?

How's the line by JFK? I tried asking what the wait times were before I applied, and the woman on the phone had a hissy fit.

I just users global entry at Jfk, and I was able to skip the long, long, lines by passport control, to the GE kiosk that was totally empty.
