It's worth paying $40 more to get a new ipod rather than a refurb.

If you're going to buy a refurb, buy through Apple. It's a safer way, I know 2 people who were screwed buying a refurb from 3rd party sites like Buy.com.

If you really really want an IPod buy it new, it's the best way to go.

Buying any refurb electronics is a total crapshoot-I wouldn't recommend it unless the savings are massive.

For a good price every day try b and h. If you ship it (for free) to new jersey  then don't pay tax. they also have good warranties avail for purchase that will cover anything

Any AMEX has a better warranty that is free...
Buying extended warranties is rarely ever worth it.
