$40 for $80 Amigo Phone rental

is this a good deal?  Never used them, but traveling to Israel in July for a week, and then to Oslo for a few days after that.   Worthwhile getting?

I've used Amigo in Israel a couple times and liked them.

I liked having 2 of them so that if you split up you can still keep in touch with the free walkie-talkie feature.

thx.  do all the phones have that walkie talkie feature?  also, the deal is $40 for $80 of talk time.  Are the rental fees themselves considered reasonable?  And any idea how they work outside of israel, e.g. oslo?

I prefer regular calling to the walkie talkie which we found somewhat difficult to use. travellcell has a deal to get 1000 minutes to another travell cell for $5, i personally would take that deal. (maybe they have it to compete with amigo). rental fees for the phones in israel are a dollar a day, amigo and travellcell both.

Funny, I liked the walkie talkie a lot.  You just push the side button and you're instantly talking to the other person.

Then again I did use walkie-talkie in Brazil for an entire year.  Can't beat free walkie-talkie between the US and Brazil!

I was ok with the walkie talkie (cant beat free) but my wife/kids could not get the hang of it (if I remember, you have to let go to listen and press to talk), so for us it didnt work.
