Getting reimbursed from more than one airline
« on: April 05, 2011, 10:52:52 AM »
A friend of mine flew ORD-LHR-TLV  and bought their ticket on elal. Their first leg was delayed causing them to miss their connecting flight in London.

AA rebooked them on BA and assured them their luggage would travel with them. Needless to say, their luggage remained in London and they filed a claim with BA.

They called AA and BA daily for the 10 days they were there and were told they could not find the luggage.

They finally got their luggage within 24 hours of their return flight. The luggage was delivered but was missing about $700 worth of items including prescription medicine, batteries, phones etc...

Elal reimbursed them for purchasing clothes there as well as 50% of the stolen items. They also had them sign an affidavit that they owe them nothing more and wont ask them for anything.
Needless to say, their vacation was ruined as they had no clothes and their items were stolen.

If they signed the affidavit with elal (not sure why as they didnt fly them), can they still write something to BA and AA (who they did fly) to be reimbursed?
AA did give them a measly 3000 miles each for the delay.

mods: If this not the write board or if the title could be more descriptive, please fix.

Any reason to think that the signed affidavit that was signed for Elal applies to AA and BA as well?

its a legal document, so if it meant also BA and AA, it would've said so very clearly. every word on these documents are precise.

As was basically just said: If you only dealt with elal you only dealt with elal. But its your responsibility to read exactly how they wrote it. You dont want to be "playing games" if you signed off that you would end all claims
