is it just a nice hotel, or is it near anything nice?
In order to understand recursion, you first need to understand recursion.

There are nice things to be near in NJ? ;)

Should we make a vote for NJ or Niagara Falls?

I'll set up a poll.
What should the options be?

I think the poll should also garner information, such as
highly consider if in NJ
highly consider if in Niagra
highly consider either way, prefer NJ
highly consider either way, prefer Niagra
think NJ is better
think Niagra is better
Let me know when there are more details: $$$, dates, etc.

There is nothing around the hotel as it is in a business district which is why I can get it for so cheap on weekends. We'll have nice rooms, a conference room to farbreng and each other. What more do we need??? If its about a DD Shabbathon then why do we all need to schlep to Niagra falls. Keep that for family trips!!!

The Aliyos can only be bought with MR, SPG or CO, DL would be a bizayon hatorah.
DD Elite members can buy low fare aliyos and waitlist for Maftir. If they dont clear then they have the option to bump and hope for avail at Kriyas hatorah by Mincha.

Does it need to be a kid-friendly place?

The entire friday afternoon would be a competition as to who paid less and got more free upgrades! And selling aliyos for miles is hilarious

Keep that for family trips!!!

I'm assuming that the married people would bring their families with them whether it's in the try-state or far away Niagara. So if you're gonna shlepp the family with you anyway, let it be a nice place that the wife and kids will enjoy too. I understand it's more of a shclepp when it's farther, but I think if it's gonna be a Shabbaton with the wife and kids it just makes more sense to be near something nice.

That's my thought too.  How about everyone else?
Make it someplace that the family can also enjoy or a business hotel that's closer by?

:D Reminds me of the Chabad shull in Venice. Over there if you get an Aliya and want to give a donation, you have to give it in their currency = Learn something extra in Chassidus or Nigle (they take cash too for Aliyos, but only after a spiritual donation first...)

seems to me that unless everybody plans on leaving their wives & kids behind a local business hotel probably won't cut it.

While I'm interested in theory, I have no idea at this point if I'll be able to make it or not...

Another place to consider is the Poconos, it's not too far from NY/NJ and there's lots to do there. (not sure what's available as far as hotels though)

You have Bushkill Falls and it's trails there - the Niagara of PA. It is kids friendly. (Although I was there July fourth last year and it seemed to be running low on water at the time).

We can all do times share presentations in the Poconos and get a free weekend at a place like Split Rock Resort http://www.splitrockresort.com. Not sure if they they have conference or banquet rooms for the meals though.
