I don't know how this will be set up, but in the past there was an option of buying "the gift of prime" and applying it to your account upon renewal.

I'm assuming this doesn't apply to you, but if you haven't used the prime yet  they will refund it to you.

Last time it happened, I canceled my current plan, got a prorated refund, and signed up at the discounted price.

Note that if you are currently sharing prime, you might not be able to continue doing so if you start a new subscription, being that the stopped this option.
