MIRA MESA, Calif., March 16 (UPI) -- A California man upset with his bank for disallowing his requested refinance said he decided to pay off his $6,500 credit card bill entirely with pennies.

Thierry Cahez of San Diego County rolled 650,000 pennies in plastic, loaded them into crates and drove the lot to his Mira Mesa bank, KABC-TV, Los Angeles, reported.

Cahez was turned away by the bank several times but eventually was sent to a branch with a vault large enough to handle the coins.

Cahez said he opted to pay his credit card bill with pennies because he was turned down for a refinance and for the amount of charges and fees on his credit card, KABC-TV said Tuesday.

how about paying it with dollar coins....
In order to understand recursion, you first need to understand recursion.

Great story!

I suppose this is the reason the NYPD tow pound doesn't allow coins. They must have had too many people coming in with pennies ;D

I don't think they have to answer to anyone, so they could do whatever they want.

I was wondering the same thing... he must have either robbed the mint or spent months collecting them from all of the banks in his vicinity

How does a supermarket get change?

In europe you order by a bank a few days before, and you get rolls of coins.

They cant refuse it, but they can charge you a processing fee. When banks take coins (especially tens of thousands of pres. dollar coins) it actually costs them a pretty penny! (No pun intended...)
