That isn't Orthodox.
Precisely. But they came from Orthodox, because they accept modern values.

Hence the danger.
Open orthodoxy in the early 21st Century is the same as reform/conservative in the early 19th century. Moses Mendelssohn believed he was frum, too.
How many people got dragged along with him as he broke away from Orthodoxy?

Open Orthodoxy
No true Scotsman. There are plenty within the ModOx community who do consider them to be Orthodox and can get pulled in to their net. I would venture to say that CBC is right that there about the large segment with the qualification that it is a case by case thing. The concept is something we have seen right here in these forums.

Listen up everyone. Today I really feel in my bones that my destiny was to be a DDF moderator, maybe even an administrator. I really identify as one, and I consider it my right to be one. Not only that, but my sensitivies tell me that every word I say is pure genius, and I should be getting post counts for this post, even though it's in JS. Actually, my feeling, which I am entitled to, is that I should get a HT for this post. Dan, I expect you to be open to my view, or expect a lawsuit coming your way.

You are entitled to your view. You think anyone is going to leave or change because of your view?

JTZ: my point precisly. Just because I want everyone to look at me a certain way, doesn't mean that they have to. And AsherO: sorry but my deepest feelings are that this belongs in this thread, and as a bleeding heart liberal, I think that everyone should have sympathy and view it the same way.

Prove it.
Well at least the historic proof to the contrary that @hence brought above is not applicable in this case.

It was a rhetorical question. I was adding to your point.

Any maybe these bleeding heart liberals should have some pity on poor pedophiles and allow them to "finally have some satisfaction" and do what their instincts push them to do? Or grow up, and if you have a problem, seek therapy.

This isn't a very good argument (even though it is true), because pedofilia harms an unconsenting child.

Submitting children to hormone therapy and allow them to cross dress etc harms a child not capable of consent.

Correct. Is this thread about transgenderism or homosexuality?

See OP.

Also, CIIW but most advocating for "acceptance" of homosexuals would agree with the sentiment express in the Public Letter.

Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

וואס א איד טוט נישט פאר פרנסה ;D

http://jewishweek.timesofisrael.com/from-black-hat-to-trans-ally-and-paying-a-price/

“Most people in Lakewood don’t know about Rabbi Moskowitz’s advocacy work on gender identity, and he does not speak openly about his work when he’s there.

“I see gender expressions and the language of it as paralleling my spiritual journey. I was assigned secular, identified as charedi and now am some version of it.”
“I’m part of the community here, I go to shul, I eat at people’s houses,” he said. He was recently asked to start giving a weekly sermon to women in the community. But in spite of his affinity for the Lakewood community, he has not shared the child’s story with those around him for fear of people’s reaction.

In many ways, Lakewood is a comfortable place for Rabbi Moskowitz, where he has friends with whom he can study Talmud and a tight-knit community.”

Just don’t get why he wants to stay in Lakewood and put on the act. Reminds me of that goy who was living in Forest Park for years masquerading as a frum Jew. Why not “come out of the closet” and move to somewhere where they’ll accept him the way he is? :)
