I never said your view was ignorant.
I understand you are allowed to cover the light according to your laws. You can tell me the same thing a hundred different ways and I still will understand it.
That is correct. I said it on my own because I know that I am ignorant on Catholics rules and customs. I am sure that by now you are more knowledgeable about Judaism than I am about Catholicism.
My understanding of a loophole is when someone exploits a "quark" in the law too circumvent its intention. As such if an exception is explicitly made or was never meant to be included in the first place that is not a loophole. That is my understanding of why one may eat fish based on your quote that Lent only includes
the flesh of animals that take their rest on the earth, and of those that breathe the air and their products.”
which does not include fish. That is similar to when the Talmud explicitly differentiates between extinguishing and covering.
As such neither would be
-an ambiguity or inadequacy in the law or a set of rules.
As an aside:
Very good point. If you believe fish is meat then you should not eat it even if your spiritual adviser says it is OK. They do draw the line at chicken.
So stop eating fish during lent
this may have been your worst argument yet
