They tried to create a "cooler" less tech/nerd centric OS called Maemo, but Nokia's popularity was tanking fast.
As of about a month ago, they announced a partnership with Microsoft to produce new Windows Phone 7 products from now on.
Which was surprising, but kind of cool - WP7 is pretty sleek (not for me, but its actually a really nice OS), and Nokia makes the best hardware. But them together, you could have a killer selection.
But those would most definitely be considered "smartphones", as it is a very modernized OS and nothing at all to do with windows Mobile 6 and under.
Meanwhile, yes, Nokia will run Opera mobile, Opera mini, Skyfire, and a host of other awesome browsers, gmail, syncML clients, exchange, music streaming, etc... I'm not familiar with I heart radio, so I'm not sure if they have their own app for Symbian or anything, but I recall apps like mobbler allowed my N95 to listen to last.fm
