Anyone switched from an s7 and can comment how long it took to get used to the no home button.
You can add a home button if you really want. Add a launcher.

You will miss it.
But Samsung will probably give up on it as well with the S8.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I switched two months ago (with different phones) and I am still not 100% used to it
I'm not who you think I am.

I've been through so many phones and I just need one that will be reliable and something I can get used to quickly. OTOH if they're going away with it on the 8 I may as well make the switch now.

I just switched from a nexus 5x to a galaxy for now and the home button makes a big difference.

I don't know anything about the s7, so not sure if this is helpful, but I switched from iPhone and got used to it very quickly. Especially since the home button works essentially the same way, only with touch rather than a hard button.

Seriously? Out of your mind? If he would have said maybe he prefers the s7 over the Pixel even though both are great I could take him seriously.  But with that extreme comment I'd be surprised if he actually even used it for more than a few minutes.

He actually pulled out of his pockets both phones and he showed them to me and they both seemed like his personal devices.
His reasons were basically the S7 has everything of the pixel and than some. S7 Waterproof, expandable memory, can see screen clearly in the sun. Pixel only upside according to him was speed but downloading a certain Google app officially does the same.

They're both great devices.  Both have their advantages.

As someone who dislikes the software on the Galaxy devices it's easy to see the benefits of the Pixel. That being said, it even has its perks compared to one of my favorite devices, the HTC m8 or 10.  It's by far the smoothest Android experience out there. It has a fantastic camera. It comes in two great sizes. Has great battery life. The things it does well, it does really well.

Just the speed and software alone are enough of a reason to go with the Pixel. And they are so great that it literally compels  people to overlook the lack of waterproof and external memory.

That being said the price is high.  I couldn't warrant spending $800 on a Pixel. (128gb, as I don't like backing photos up but that is another perk of the Pixel, Unlimited  high res storage ).

I stuck with the HTC 10 at the moment and the only reason I really wanted the Pixel was for its smaller footprint as I have small hands.  The speed and camera would have been an added bonus but I'm happy enough with the HTC.

The s7 is a great device. I myself dislike the software and it will hiccup in comparison to the Pixel.  If th waterproofing and external memory are more important to you than the other stuff should be good enough. The speed, the camera etc.

If money is a factor than the s7 is a better choice.
At this point it really depends what's important to you.

Both are good devices.
