Say goodbye to the flea market on route 70

https://www.app.com/story/news/local/communitychange/2019/06/17/lakewood-nj-environmental-permit-332-homes-route-70-flea-market/1453672001/

If you aren't happy about this new development, the article ends off with this:

Residents who wish to comment on the DEP settlement must do so by July 5. Contact DEP at (609) 633-2289, Ryan.Anderson@dep.nj.gov, or by writing to Coastal Regulation Bureau Chief, Division of Land Use Regulation, Mail Code 501-02A, PO Box 420, Trenton, NJ 08625-0420.

HUH? i didnt understand that line when i read it and i sure dont understand why you are posting it now. so you want random people that live nowhere near here to stop someone from building? the neighbors in the vicinity got notices and they can conplain if they have a valid issue. but just to get people to complain, what does it have to do with someone living in raintree? or hope chapel? do you want someone harrasing your business just bec they have extra time on their hands?

All the way down by Route 70? That area seems to be better equipped to deal with more residents. It's the 9 that is beyond bad and the surrounding streets that are not thru streets.

All the way down by Cross Street?
All the way down by Prospect Street?
All the way down by James Street?
All the way down by MLK?

All once heard...

BTW Are you aware of how close this is to Rt 9?

it all drains onto rt 9
And are used as bypasses the way all those other streets once were.

All I said was you can't blame this development. It is the fault of all the other developments that blocked the completion of the planned through streets. And obviously that the 9 was never widened.

And if Lakewood was uninhabited then there’d be no traffic at all. But that’s not the reality when they started the project.

There’s plenty of blame to dole out, but blame the developers or not, this development will worsen traffic conditions.

Most other developments are way more egregious in their attitudes. Are they vacating any paper streets for this?

Any thoughts on this referendum that the BOE approved yesterday?

Basically it puts funding for courtesy busing and special ed services (for private schools - like STARS, Kochvei Ohr, Mekor Hachinuch, etc.) on the ballot, which would lead to an annual tax increase of about $200-$400 for average Lakewood homes ($300k-$600k value). The caveat, though: according to the BOE, should the referendum fail, courtesy busing and these programs will no longer be available, even if the township should decide to pay for it.

Ill preface that I don't understand the issue (yet)...
Iiuc...
Regarding the schools and shadows the funding is likely to be lost really hurting the families that need it & qualify.. regarding courtesy bussing...
The theory is that if it's voted down (& it likely will since last time a similar referendum was voted on it lost by 97%)  the state will also pull their funding by basically saying that if you guys dont care about it we don't either... To have families that live to close pay $150 won't even be an option..
