refrigerators
« on: November 07, 2016, 10:08:33 AM »
Anyone know about them, or recently went through the process of purchasing one?
Any important things to look out for? Any companies to avoid?

Pay attention to Shabbos mode on modern refrigerators.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

+1. Town Appliance in Lakewood is very solid on price and they're very knowledgeable about the Shabbos issues.

Haven't bought anything this time of year, didn't think of that. I don't really know, but it may be worth getting some quotes from them beforehand as a benchmark when looking at BF deals.

most probably. they once told me that all specials stem from the manufacturer. each store gives it a different name. they once matched a special for me

after talking to them, if i decide on a make and model, if it is cheaper in one of the big stores, i would let them know.

Don't forget, that if you're not delivering within NJ they don't collect tax.

Wait, what? Aren't you in NY? They don't charge tax if you're in NY. So they have a built in advantage over the vast majority of BF deals.

any advice regarding type of fridge/freezer?
This would be a backup. town appliance recommended a fridge with freezer on top. anyone with advice pro or against?

In my experience they have and were often better anyhow. They also get rebates to use for Black Friday.

Makes sense. A side by side loses a lot of usable space to all the nooks and crannies. A bottom freezer will just make it more expensive with little gain for a second fridge.

As long as you tell them that youre not buying from them. They are very nice, and if they are not super busy, should help you.

Same story just about 2 years later wondering if there is any new info. Also, since Town Appliance now as a location in NY I think they do charge sales tax.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Anyone know what the sliding piece here does other then the obvious that I can see - sliding it opens or closes a tiny vent. The question is, what makes it colder vs. not? I'm seeing that the things inside these draws are starting to freeze, I haven't done anything different since I got the fridge and I'm now wondering if one or both of these tabs were moved. I have not really paid attention to them since I don't store fruits/veg exclusively in either draw.

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.
