There is a Lowes Business AMEX.  You get 5% off at Lowes on every purchase.  Plus you get 2% cash back from AMEX on Lowes spend.  It's actually points, but the points are redeemable at $0.01/each for either Lowes or AMEX gift cards.  Also gets 3x at restaurants, office supplies.  No annual fee. Free employee cards.  AMEX purchase protections.  Balance won't show on your personal credit report.

That assumes Lowes works as a substitute for HD in your case.  7% off is a pretty good deal though.

Lowe's is a good idea if it works for you. for most it isn't a worthwhile substitute.
Temporary offers can't drive a long term decision, unless your volume is smaller and not such a big deal to switch everyone's credit card every few months.
GC's are not a viable option if oyu use the statement to track/ verify transactions and need employee cards
AMEX is generally a problem since many small hardware stores don't take it, and you don't want your employees carrying two of your credit cards.

Discover had 5% CB on home improvement during Q3 and runs other specials with Home Depot and Lowes that are doubled in Year 1 of the card.

if you have to buy something very soon at HD,buy gift cards from  third party gift card sites  on discount and use them.  I wouldn't keep unused GC bought from third party website for long. It maybe be way more better then using any cash backs or points/miles card at the store.

when we moved in a new condo, first purchase, we had like almost a dozen 10% off code from usps  and also bought some for $1 on ebay.

We used those at lowes almost all and one at HD. When  using Lowes coupons at HD store, DO NOT ASK THEM IF THEY ACCEPT IT OR NOT. Just go to the payment counter to pay and after scanning your products, show the lowes coupon and tell them it is a competitor lowes coupon and they will accept it.
I even bought cooking gas ranger online from HD  after price matching from a different online store and also had the chat agent accept 10% lowes coupon.
