Priceline Hotels
« on: January 03, 2010, 03:34:22 PM »
I just had a discussion with someone about the benefits of getting elite status at hotels.  But they have shown me prices for rooms that they get at priceline which is usually 40% less than what I can get them for.

I'm pretty sure you don't get any points when you book through priceline.  So does it make any sense to book at these hotels directly unless there is something like FFN promo going on?

It all depends what you're after.
You won't earn elite status or points or get upgraded through priceline, but it can be much cheaper.

used priceline many times - be sure to read betterbidding.com for tips before.  Only got upgraded once to a suite and once paid $40 extra for a huge suite.

betterbidding.com  has a list of hotels that you will most likely get depending on star rating and area you check off so you can double check if you are willing to take a chance.  Also, it explains free rebids - it helped me a lot so I highly recommend.

In my experience most hotels have "Priceline rooms" which they save for their "extra-special" priceline guests.
Having elite status or sweet talking may get you a better room though.

Sweet, I would always take a suit over a suite!

Is there any way when booking with Priceline's express deals or name your own price to ensure that I get adjoining rooms?
Don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers
