He had it backwards, stairway to heaven is a knockoff of a Jewish song.

Spirit was not being played by heimishe women in Boro Park.
Do you want to play a board game, digitally or in Lakewood NJ? PM me. (Can be asynchronous, i.e. take turns whenever)

While the cover says "Words and music by Nachman Seltzer,"
the liner notes list the composer for one song as E. Clapton.
(It's one of the later tracks, IIRC.)

Cadence is not the same as melody. Notes are not at all the same.

Mendy Wald Sameach - Track 7 Der Kedusha Lebt. IMHO one of the nicer heartfelt songs/albums in Jewish Music.

You can listen to the preview here
I was told by someone recently that this song is not originally a jewish song. Can anyone verify? or provide the original?

From a 2006 post on BeyondBT:
Does anyone know what recording this might have been?

Maybe Dance with Chen 3? Second track?

As an aside, both Victor Borge and Tom Lehrer are awesome. Absolutely worth watching their videos.

(The Victor Borge video above has some easily-skippable kol isha towards the end.)

Yes I see it

Did you share the zac brown cover since the other has kol isha? Or since it sounds more similar to Duvies song?
Make stuff happen.

Mainly avoiding the kol isha, but I also find this one more pleasant to listen to. The similarities are clear enough in the original cast recording, but you're right that the arrangement on this one is more like Duvie's.

The so-called [HASC] "half-time" show was nice, but I remember a time when Jews had enough confidence in their
abilities to compose stunning songs without having to borrow from the latest project on the other side of the fence.

What did they use?
