How do you know it's not just regular delays?

the reason for the delay was: no pilot available.

Ask your LOR if you're allowed to take an ELAL flight on Motzoei Shabbos.

To quote the Mukancher from the famous video: אמעריקאנע אידן. היט דעם הייליגן שבת, וועט די הייליגע שבת אויף אייך היטן. (paraphrasing from memory).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

IINM the problem is only from TLV, since there's a very high likelihood that the plane was prepared on Shabbos by Yidden, which isn't the case in JFK

Ahem...
I took a Motzoei Shabbos ELAL flight, but that was in the winter. The experience kept me away from ELAL ever since, so the שאלה hasn't been an issue for me.

I don't know about taking it in the summer, I would suspect that it might be a problem, which is why I said one should ask LOR. That being said, causing צער to another Yid on Shabbos by making a statement about something that might happen on Motzoei Shabbos is also something to ask an LOR about.

The one time that I was advised on a summer Friday that I must leave on Motzoei Shabbos, DL happened to have been a better option (despite travel agent trying to push ELAL) so didn't have to ask. Since that flight also involved a מצוות עשה, I am not sure what the answer would have been if I would have asked about taking an ELAL flight two hours after Shabbos.

I didn't say it is not permissible, I said ask your LOR. In the winter if there are 5 or 6 hours from the end of Shabbos until the flight, it might be OK, or at least a mitigating factor.

Also, in my specific case the ticket was not purchased in advance, but rather at the airport just prior to the flight. IDK, but that might also be a mitigating factor from a Shabbos perspective.

There's 6 hours from Motzei Shabbos until the flight, I will B'li Neder ask a LOR, I'm fairly certain that it isn't an issue

My father's flight from TLV just got cancelled due to pilot action, he rebooked on United for now. Any chance of getting El Al to reimburse for that fare? He could rebook on the next El Al flight, now delayed to 11:40 am, but there is a reasonable chance that will be cancelled as well.
