Why do people book with LY in the first place?
Because they pay commission to TAs and have the most extensive direct schedule.

Huh? Not based on what I hear.

I’ve flown many times over the past few years & elal is always at least $100-$200 cheaper.

My TA has no problem selling me other airlines but they’re always more expensive. Any ppl I speak to who consistently fly delta or united say they know its more expensive but they’re doing it for the status, upgrades etc.

If you book in advance I’ve found that to be true, otherwise not really.

I wasn't inquiring only about the TLV-NYC route, there are other routes in question. Also, with DL/UA one can often save a few $ by booking to a HC.

I've seen posts that say that TLV-AMM-BKK on RJ is shorter duration (and possibly cheaper ) than the LY TLV-BKK, with a more modern aircraft.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Not available on a regular basis, but I've booked DL J using HC saving quite a few $ (on a RT).

1:50pm flight to EWR this Thursday delayed to 5:35pm causing the return scheduled for 9pm to be delayed to 11:55pm (landing in IL 5:20pm Fri)
Anyone flying or know someone flying on the flight should call El Al or their travel agent to get rebooked free of charge, unless they don't mind spending Shabbos in Athens....

1:30pm and 6pm is now completely booked (in Y). 10:30am still has quite a bit of space.

Give me a break. These are so famous they might have been posted on DDMS advising everyone that luggage comes out on first port of US entry.

Who's talking about HC with LY?

The whole point was that while LY might be cheaper than UA/DL, on UA/DL one can often use HC to save a few $.

Seems like TLV - NYC is obvious, how about HC NYC - TLV?
