I think those affected will be lucky if Google agrees to provide a copy of their emails, photos and other data. Getting back the account and email address is unlikely in my opinion.

Btw, did anyone lose access to a Google Voice number?

Buying a pixel messes up your Google Voice number so I don't think anyone used an account associated with a Google Voice number

I once texted 40 people from my Google Voice account. Google thought it was spam. They shut down my Google account. I had the same message everyone's getting now. I appealed. Magically, a few months later my account was reopened.
(I can't remember if I appealed a second time)

sorry, may your situation be resolved asap. Also I believe your crime may be more personal to them, than my "spam".

I wasn't working so hard to get it reopened, bec, all I used in that Google account was Voice.

Shutting someone's Google accounts, is in a certain sense similar to cutting off one of their limbs. It is really harsh punishment. It is so crucial to daily life and business, to have access to your data. You can't live the same. It's crippling.

Just because they have so much power, doesn't give them the right to use it. #Bullies

That's not true. We forget how much power we give these companies but it doesn't mean they don't have the right to wield said power if they choose to.

Again, having the "right" is not only dependent on what Google says it is allowed to do, or even what's in their T&C. It's what a Court says they can do. And despite the terms, it's hardly equitable to impose digital death on a person who made an unrelated purchase, causing massive damages to personal lives, businesses, and other irreplaceable files.

I agree, I was just commenting on the fact that saying they don't have the right isn't true as of now, until a court rules on something like this, they can and will do what they want.
