Fender bender and cdw
« on: June 18, 2019, 12:42:23 PM »
Hello,
I rented a car in Sf in February, I got into a minor fender bender with some crazy guy, his fault. I denied any responsibility. I got a bill for $389 from Viking for $339 loss waiver damage amount and $50 admin fee.

I went to cards insurer who said well you gotta file with your primary auto coverage (in my case progressive) they will decline it as it's under $500, you send us the letter and we pay Viking.

All parties stated this would have no affect on my insurance.. well it's time to renew my progressive (case is still in progress) my agency said well we can't give you a better rate as we see this accident.

Ugh really ?! What can I do now.. it was such minor damage and the guy's fault, he filed the claim and I disputed it.. no police report was made I figured the guy was full of crap and cc company would cover

This is why you should have a card with primary coverage.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I don't see how they proved you to be at fault?

I've had similar and a company on behalf of my car rental company came after me for his damages but I didn't help them so they went after my old insurance Geico
which I told I don't have you as insurance deny the claim.

My CC covered my charged on my Car's damage.

Once were talking about it might as well post some info here to make peoples life easier
Rule About Car Rental Accidents
1. Use a CC that covers you Like CSR
2. Deny Insurance
3. If you do get into a accident try to leave without swapping info
if not take photos without moving the car then swap info and leave or get a police report. (This is going to be horrible and long)

4. When you return the car report the accident as the other party drove away without giving their info.

Primary wouldn't cover the other guys car

Oh this was for your car.... Got it.

What card has primary ? I paid using my sapphire ur in chase portal but when I picked up car, the card in my backpack was my Citi aa card and that's who told me it was secondary.

Can I file with chase sapphire as I did use that account to pay the main reservations.

I wonder if progressive will let me withdraw claim?

Also I have csp be not csr, seems like csp Is primary.

Would they cover it if I booked via Portal with ur from that account ? Even if at time of rental I used Citi card ?

And at this point would that even matter if I tell progressive it was a mistake and claim was cleared etc?

Facepalm, next time I'll only use sapphire
