If Im staying in City Center off Yaffo Road, and traveling around Jerusalem, does it make sense to rent car?
I haven't been to Israel in 10 years, traffic and parking a few days before Pesach will be difficult?

Just stumbled onto this thread and will add my .02.

I like renting from Avis in order to avoid having to use a shuttle upon return of the car. That can also be done with Eldan/Alamo/Enterprise but IME Avis had better rates most of the time.

If I were staying only in Yerushalim, I would probably try to avoid driving/parking, but it also depends on how many people you are.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Depends on more specific criteria but if you're staying local it would prob be cheaper and more convenient to take taxis the while time.

IINM Alamo (as well as National) are ELDAN in Israel.

About to rent a car in IS. Checked with Yerent and quoted me for $380+ for intermediate 7 days (including 3pl).
With Rentalcars I got $100 with Alamo, same car type and period time
I called Eldan and they said it will be an extra $180 for liability.
My point is that there are surprises at the counter if you don't check before but it still might be much cheaper with these websites.

Update: contacted an agent from this forum and got  $229 with Budget for Mazda 3 including TPL.

I've had decent experience (and very nice mileage earnings, compared to other programs) renting from Hertz via AegeanAir.com. You can get Shabbos credit also when going that route (not much, as it only credits the base fare IINM) as long as you didn't prepay.
