witch banks do hard pulls for opening account and witch dont?

its been mentioned before, but I don't think it had a thread of its own...
I know that I got a hard pull from wachovia bank for opening a checking acount, and from chase (although I specifically asked and she said it won't)...

When I applied for cap one I was told that they couldn't approve me though I have a chase bofa and citi acct. I don't know if that means they do a hard pull but it definitely means something

you're speaking about a bank account. right?
did they tell you why they can't open an account for you?

I didn't get a pull from Cap1, it could be because it was right around the time I applied for a CC with them (the account was already approved IIRC), but I doubt it.

No they just told me that it was based on a report they got from chexsystems and I can go to their website to receive the full credit report and reason for not being approved

Yup, it's free, I did it and it came within a few days. For some reason Discover keeps (soft-?)pulling my ChexSystems report...

is a pull from chex considered a hard pull? does it show up on credit report?

Perhaps it's considered a 'hard' pull on your ChexSystems report, but since bank accounts aren't credit, I don't see how inquiries are a risk factor.
