I live outside the USA most of the year -applied for a Citi card and was told  they need to contact me either by txt or land line phone about my application

the problem is I am now out of the USA  so landline is a problem , also I have only a local cell phone that can be use only in states and a 2nd local phone I use out of the states and they will

anyway to solve my problem ? as I will not be back in states for many months

Do you have the option to give Citi a number to you at? IME you don't, they search public records for your number.

That is what i had heard--

 I called a ATT  store in NY- asked about a one month SIM card or one of those sort of "Track phones" or "Go phones" and was told no I.D. was required - does not sound right - but maybe it is  since they sell sim cards at airport vending machines --

anyone have any experience with temporary sim cards or GO/TRACK PHONES  ?--will that solve problem?

If this is a standard Citi ID verification, they're probably going to want to talk to you at the number(s) you provided on the app — or, as someone said above, at a number they have via their own internal records or find by searching public records.

A person who submits a credit app and then immediately tries to change contact info. is a huge red flag.

they gave me a choice -- a call on phone on application --or- text me - I never gave them cell nbr

understand they have a security concern - always solved it with speaking with fraud -- been with citi 35 years --in past almost always auto aprvd -this is first time required txt etc --

 - do not need RED FLAGS - best maybe just let the ap die

It's not much of a verification if a person can provide any old number after submitting the app.

THANKS--I know nothing about G voice-- will see  what I need to do to set up --- I did glance at G voice --  it may work-- though i wonder if it will work in the sense that CITI  wants to verify "not a fraud situation" and since I can do G voice anyone can and that defeats the security

CITI sent a letter , i will try to find out what it says and also speak with fraud dept

Citi IS A REAL PITA -just to get them to send a new c.c. to Europe takes many a call!! -but first need to get approved in this situation
