You believe that anyone should be able to steal my copyrighted material without even attempting to obtain any permission in a for-profit publication without facing any repercussions?

Its yashrus more than anything else. Also there is a big difference in someone posting a picture on their facebook page etc (purely personal) and someone using your picture in a professional, commercial magazine, where they are (potentially) profiting off your picture. While you cannot expect individuals to know all the laws about copyrighting, someone who is in the publication industry - this is their business! They have to show a little more responsibility. If anything, pointing out this issue to them now, will help them avoid potentially greater liability in the future.

As for my profession I am manufacturing products.

Sure, if they contacted me beforehand and agreed to give proper credit to DansDeals.com it is very likely that I would have given permission. But they didn't, they stole copyright material without permission without giving any credit.

If Zman would publish an article about a product in your line of manufacturing and posted pictures from your website of your product that you have a copyright on and pass it off as if it belonged to someone else without mentioning you at all would you just say that "I don't think anyone is as accountable to God as I am trying to hold them?"

Fair is fair. Your argument is akin to saying, "oh come on, its just a small scratch on your bumper and I am sure that within a year you will have 10 more scratches just like that! I shouldn't have to pay you $50 to touch up the paint!"
You are also failing to differentiate between personal and business. Dan runs the site as a business. When another business profits off his business, he deserves to get paid for it. Not only does he deserve but he is actually ENTITLED to get paid for it.

Its right vs. wrong. I fail to see how hype or God plays into any of this.

My yearly subscription is nearly up, and now they're asking for double the money. Perhaps you can have them throw in an extention for me as part of your package of goodies?

The Zman is an amazing publication. The editor is a very nice person. The article does not even discuss anything that DansDeals is involved in. I am sure that Dan could get a lot of publicity out of this if he takes the diplomatic route and asks them to publish an article discussing the site and the forum. It would probably be great reading material and fit the magazine well.
