I have a blackberry bold 9650 sprint it has a sim slot is there a way to get my phone bbm for free while I'm in france using a with this phone thank you very much

I believe that Sprint can provide you with a sim for international use. (dunno about charges) IRRC it comes with a SIM.

It won't be free, it'll be using roaming data which shouldn't be too expensive on its own. Just make sure not to get any emails or use any other data via browser or apps. You can set your BIS to block all emails.

I don't know if that would work, since they data is going through an o2 sim and the BBM through a PIN/BIS account with Sprint.

Hmmm, but if the BIS is through the sim, would the phone's data work (considering BB has the PIN listed with Sprint and not o2? It's my understanding that a PIN can only be listed with one carrier at a time, no?

AFAIK the PIN is attached to the device, so it doesn't matter how the data is coming in.

But the PIN does have to be active on a B plan. The question is if the PIN could be active on one plan and the sim is with a completely different carrier.

I was in Israel recently, and I used a Cellcom sim in my Sprint bb. It worked fine.

Basically what it is, is a prepay sim card on any tariff to which you add a blackberry "bolt-on" (add-on) for £5/month. You get 500MB in the UK and 10MB international roaming anywhere in the world. I know people that don't have set plans here, that use that.
