Wow, I am actually sickened by this comment most of all. Seriously. Deeply so. Totally flabbergasted.
Wow you just lost my respect (if it had any meaning to you)

Methinks this thread is just going to lead to petty bickering and senseless arguments.

What's going on?

People are playing the moral equivalency game, comparing apples and watermelons.

For the record, no it's not cute to write dirty words in a Jewish family newspaper. I wasn't defending that in the slightest. But be careful what you equate it to.

I don't think so. But now it looks like the post I quoted (as well as the post that the quoted post was responding to) have both been deleted. It's kind of hard to follow this conversation anymore.

My shock was at the first word in the post I quoted. That first word was "yes." But now you can't even see what question they were saying yes to.

Anyway... My take away is that the Dilbert guy is right. Most people are "word thinkers." They are comparing the dirty word in the ad to the dirty word that Trump used. Yes, if you're just comparing use of dirty words then I guess there is some semblance of equivalency. That's where it ends though.

Ok I couldn't find which post the yes was referencing so I thought it was just explaining why someon would be opposed to the ad.
I don't know about the Dilbert thing. Most people I know irl dont fit into that description it's only people on the internet. Maybe people just dont know how to articulate subtitles in writing.

I think it is just the opposite. You are the one comparing words. No one is making the claim that Trump is not a lower person than the one publishing the ad or that Trump's language was worse. On the other hand Trump's talk was not done for public consumption but was a private conversation among two lowlives. If someone talks like that in private it shows who the person is but we already know that people talk like that. The ad is in a family oriented publication catering to a community which shuns language much more benign than what is in the publication. The ad was geared towards people who we expect to find such language offensive to the extent that they change the pronunciation of this exact word when referring to a masechta in shas. In a very big way that is much worse than what Trump said in private.

I was responding yes to freddies question
You were sickened? Seriously, I'm asking.
.
And who said that i was equating the foul mouth of some show-biz guy, to the family ad.  I was not equating any thing, and have 0 to do with DJT.
I was just coming here to comment that the ad sickened me. Nothing to argue about. My feelings, feel free to have your own.

I've read this already, my point was that while it is a sound theory I only see it in practice on the internet. For the most part, The people I know in real life don't fit into it.

Perhaps, but whats it gets too far beneath the surface its moot. Its like double reverse psychology at some point its just labels of behavoir that can be tieched up in any of a hundred theories.
