Buying a bed
« Reply #64 on: August 07, 2011, 02:38:34 PM »
I need a bed. I want it delivered. To Boston.

I want to pay not a lot of money. I have no idea what it should cost, so I suppose I can't even make an estimate.
I basically need a mattress and something to put it on.

Any ideas? Where is a regular plain old place to buy a plain old bed.

(Also, the sleep number bed is retarded. You don't need a bed that changes; you just need one that is right for you. They should just produce them with different hardnesses.)

Fixed.

But to tell the truth, this thread wasn't very helpful.
I don't need a W, or a pillow top, or anything that will last more than 2 years.
I just need a bed. I would sleep in my car if it had a place to plug in a foreman.

~$450 or so for a W is less than 1% of 1 year Harvard Law tuition, excluding room/board/books, etc.
Surely its worth investing that in a mattress where you'll be spending thousands of hours in to be fully rested, no?

I wish I'll be spending that much time in it.

Do you sleep for an hour a night?
It's not too hard to get into thousands of hours in a mattress when you multiply hours per night x 2 years.

Ok, so you think the W for 450.
Does that come with a thing to put it on, or is it just the mattress. Does it come with delivery?

So I called 1800 mattress, since they have an easy to remember phone number.
I think I'm going to get the king coil firm expressions for 425 delivered and assembled including tax. And move on to selecting classes and researching the 22 firms I'm interviewing with next week. And figuring out how to get a parking permit so I can park somewhere at the end of my 17 hour road trip.

I would spend the extra ~$50 for the W (which has no tax or delivery/assembly fee either), but to each their own.

Ok. But I'm not seeing how to do that. Do I need the code? Does the one from 6 months ago still work?

Try the old codes from the site and see if they still work.

I just bought my daughter (3 years old) a mattress from Costco for 119.  They were on sale.  I figure she is light enough, it will be fine.  Plus can't beat their return policy.

My husband and I both have the W bed and LOVE it.  Worth every single penny.  That being said, might not be a good idea in law school.  You might not want to get out of bed in the morn.

In conclusion.

I couldn't find a coupon code for W, so scratched that.
I called 800 mattress yesterday and asked them to deliver today.
They said they are closed today.
I said forget it then, so they said they could deliver today.
I chose a package for 425 delivered assembled.
They called back and said they can't deliver thursday night, only afternoon.
I said forget it.
They called back and said they can deliver friday and will knock off 100. I said fine.
