Exactly as it sounds. And not an automatic deduction.

A one time payment (as opposed to the automatic payment that you are charged when your balance goes below a certain amount).

I  just spoke to chase customer service, they said they changed the policy and you have the whole 2017 to spend the $300 from 2016 along with your $300 from 2017.  That means that if you already  spent $300 in 2016 then you will get the additional $300 as before in 2017.  But, if you opened  your reserve in 2016 and did not have a chance to spend your $300 in 2016 for the first year only it will carry over to 2017 and you will get a $600 credit in 2017.  This can alleviate some of the pressure that you have to spend the $300 credit before the end of the year, the whole statement generating thing doesn't matter anymore .

Try to call yourself. He said they changed the policy. Even if it doesn't show you have a $300 credit available call them and they will manually do it. He noted my account so I'm covered already but hope its true for everyone.

'Try to call yourself'..
