can we have the bashing rule lifted for this one thread , yitzer why are u such a fan of xps
Because it's a phenomenal laptop. Excellent build quality and I paid peanuts for it.

My specs are:
Core 2 Extreme X9000, 2.8ghz
4GB RAM
320GB 7200RPM HD
8600m GT

And a crapload of other goodies, I only paid 800 for it.

Which of those do you like best?

So far i haven't Installed Vista. (I have a legal copy, but everything I've read, and everybody iuknow who has it tells me to stick with xp)

there are many things I like better about ubuntu, but overall I find things to be a bit more annoying and complicated than xp.
compiz fusion looks really really cool but does it actually do anything really useful?

judging by E's avatar I think we know where he stands on this :)

it is a bit more annoying and complicated but it adds to the fun, compiz fusion is really just an appearance effects manager, personally i currently have my ubnuntu to appear like leopard , even the boot screen looks like leopard , just cause i could

Ohh, we got ourselves a linux fanboy....

Compiz is just a really cool looking GUI. I made it look like OSX and my friend who has a mac went crazy. He was pissed that he paid so much for something that he could have gotten for free.

I like all of those os's. mainly ubuntu and xp. Vista does have some cool stuff (DX10) And some other stupid stuff. But when you have a system like mine, it runs perfect. All those guys that hate it are only complaining because their system can't run it. Simple.

It's just a bit annoying because a lot of it is still controlled from the console. Which takes some time getting used to. But in the end it's a pretty solid OS.

E, Do you have the newest distro?

That sounds pretty hard. I really like the transparency. It was a bit of a pain in the arse when I downloaded compiz and something else which conflicted. That was a pain.

You update what automatically? And btw those ubuntu geeks can sometimes be major pricks to n00bs, when I was learning, I asked a question on one of the forums and this guy told me to type some code in the console. And BAM my pc just shut down. What a prick.

I agree. (well kind of, I don't have much of a problem with the geeks talking in code, but still...)
