Not sure if this applies to every account. When I was checking out before (for one of the coats Dan linked to) I clicked "change" for the payment method, and the deal shows up. You can just apply enough points to pay for 1 cent of the order and then put in code AMEX16EVER. I couldn't figure out a way to pay the rest with a different card, so the rest of the bill was paid with that same Amex card (not with points though).
It only worked once for me (the $58.99 Kenneth Cole coat came out to $33.99; original price $129.95!). I tried to do it a second time and it said "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."
